"Just listen, Adam says with a voice that sounds like shrapnel.
I open my eyes wide now.I sit up as much as I can. And I listen.
Stay, he says.
Choices. Seventeen-year-old Mia is faced with some tough ones: Stay true to her first love—music—even if it means losing her boyfriend and leaving her family and friends behind?
Then one February morning Mia goes for a drive with her family, and in an instant, everything changes. Suddenly, all the choices are gone, except one. And it's the only one that matters.
If I Stay is a heartachingly beautiful book about the power of love, the true meaning of family, and the choices we all make." -Synopsis from Goodreads
Honestly, I was pretty disappointed by this book. I was expecting a beautifully written, heart-wrenching book (as it says in the synopsis) but I did not get that. I didn't shed a single tear, but I did get a bit sad at a few parts, especially when Mia's grandpa was talking to her. I don't really know how I feel about If I Stay, I mean it was a good book but it was so hyped up that I was expecting something amazing.
I did enjoy the flashbacks and all of the characters. I really liked Adam and Mia's best friend (I can't remember her name ahh). I think Gayle Foreman wrote a really good book with an interesting plot and good characters, but I didn't enjoy it as a lot of people did.

QUOTES:
“I realize now that dying is easy. Living is hard.”
“But the you who you are tonight is the same you I was in love with yesterday, the same you I’ll be in love with tomorrow.”
“But I also know that sometimes Adam needs to do things the dramatic way. He is fond of the Grand Gesture”
“If I stay. If I live. It’s up to me.
All this business about medically induced comas is just doctor talk. It’s not up to the doctors. It’s not up to the absentee angels. It’s not even up to God who, if He exists, is nowhere around right now. It’s up to me.”
