Top 13 Books of 2013

2013 was a great reading year for me, so I compiled a list of the top 13 books I read and a crappy explanation about why I loved the book. Here we go!

11614718 1656001 7619057 12127810 15861491 15745753 12700353 11870085 13522285 10576365 248704 16068905 3777732

13. Delirium by Lauren Oliver (5/5 stars)

I absolutely devoured this book. I read it in about 2 days I think, and I loved it. I was swooning over Alex and I loved Hanna. The world that they lived in was very interesting and I really liked Lauren Oliver's writing style.

12. The Host by Stephanie Meyer (5/5 stars)

I read this beast of a book in about 5 days while I was on vacation in Mexico and I loved it. I carried it around with me everywhere in the resort because I didn't want to stop reading it. I loved the characters, the plot and the setting. Just everything about this book was awesome.

11. Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion (5/5 stars)

I read this book on vacation in Mexico as well and I absolutely adored it. R is probably one of my all time favourite characters. I had never read a zombie book and this was a really funny one to read. I really enjoyed the writing in this book, I whizzed through this book and I barely put it down while reading it.

10. The House of Hades by Rick Riordan (5/5 stars)

I love Rick Riordan and his characters so much. I've been in love with his books since grade 6 when I first read The Lighting Thief and I'm still obsessed with the world that he created. I just love the way he writes in his characters and how he describes things. This book is probably my favourite out of all of the books in the Heroes of Olympus series and I cannot wait for the next book.

9. The Fall of Five by Pittacus Lore (5/5 stars)

I don't even know what to say about this book other than it was absolutely amazing. I love this series and this book was just... I can't. The events and plot twists that happened in this book had me hooked and I don't want to wait so long for the next book because I neED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS RIGHT NOW.

8. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell (4.5/5 stars)

This book was so cute and fluffy (until the end..The ending killed me... I was surprised with how it ended because I thought Rainbow would end it differently but, I digress.). I love Park and how he was described in the book. Although Eleanor sometimes annoyed me, I still really enjoyed the book.

7. Me & Earl & the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews (5/5 stars)

This book was so funny I was laughing out loud every single time I picked up this book. Jesse Andrew's writing style is so laid back and hilarious and I love it. I really reccomend this book if you're looking for a funny read (don't be put off that it has a girl with cancer. Jesse Andrews did not make it sad in any way). Also can I just add that I tweeted about the book and Jesse Andrews somehow saw it and retweeted it like ohmygoodness I fangirled...not even gonna lie.

6. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green (5/5 stars)

Do I really need to talk about why I loved this book??? The only reason it isn't higher up on this list is because my friend spoiled me (which sucks...a lot) so I wasn't as surprised at the ending when I read it. I really don't have much to say about this book other than I am in love with Augustus Waters and I love John Green''s writing so much.

5. The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider (5/5 stars)

This book was fantastic. I immediately fell in love with Ezra Faulkner, and I found his situation relatable (the whole I-was-a-major-athlete-then-I-got-injured-and-now-I-can't-play-sports thing was very relevant in my life as well as Ezra's) I was so shocked when the thing happened with Cassidy (I don't want to spoil anyone but if you've read the book you know what I mean) and I was freaking out and flailing throughout this entire book because the feeLS WHERE TOO STRONG.

4. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken (4.5/5 stars)

THIS BOOK OH MY. First of all I love Liam so much I don't even know why. Second of all this book was amazing and the reason I took away .5 of a star was because I was a bit confused in the beginning but I promise you it is an amazing book. So you must go read it. Go. Right now.

3. It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini (5/5 stars)

This book hit me right in the feels. I absolutely loved it. I really want to re-read it in 2014 because it was so amazing I must read it again. The writing style was amazing and I think Ned Vizzini did a fantastic job writing this book. P.S I can't believe Ned is gone :( Rest In Peace my friend. You will be missed.

2. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (5/5 stars)

I seriously canNOT CONTAIN MYSELF WHEN IT COMES TO THIS BOOK IT WAS JUST SO AMAZING SO YOU NEED TO GO READ IT RIGHT NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T AND UGH IT WAS SO RELATABLE AND AMAZING AND IT DESERVES ALL OF THE STARS.

1. City of Glass by Cassandra Clare (5/5 stars)

YUP THIS IS IN ALL CAPS TOO BECAUSE IT WAS MY FAVOURITE BOOK OF THE YEAR AND IT WAS SO GOOD I JUST LOVE CASSANDRA CLARE BUT I DON'T AT THE SAME TIME BECAUSE SHE MESSES WITH JACE AND MY HEART AND MY HEAD AND JUST ALSKHFALSHLJHASDFLKHASDFLKHFDSAKNLJAFDSKN,FASDN. If you haven't read the mortal instruments series go do it right now because these books are amazing I can't even. No seriously go read them right now. Like click the little X button on your browser, turn your computer off, go to a bookstore, buy City of Bones, and read them. GO DO IT OR I WILL FIND YOU (i promise I'm not sponsored by Cassandra Clare) But in all seriousness, yes, this was the best book I read all year. The plot twists and the writing and the character development was amazing and they spoke Romanian which is awesome because I was able to read that part and know what they're saying and I felt so special and ugh it was just so good. ALL OF THE FEELS WITH THIS BOOK. ALL OF THEM. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.

Yes, those are my top 13 of 2013. Apparently I don't know how to describe my love for books other than "it was amazing" or all caps harrasing you to go read the book. I'm sorry (but I'm not) heh

-Ana :)
