This weeks Top Ten Tuesday is ten blogging confessions so here they are!! I'm also adding Bookish confessions because I haven't really been blogging for a while so I don't have many
__________________________________________________________________________________
- I'm going to start with my worst confession: I've never actually read Harry Potter...... I KNOW I'M SORRY OK. I read the first 2 when I was really young and my mom didn't let me continue because she thought the writing was too advance for me at that age, so I stopped. I still haven't read them to this day... oops
- I honestly have no idea what I'm doing when I write reviews. I just write down everything and then try and make it sound ok and then I post it. Written reviews are really scary to me, so when I review an ARC for my local bookstore I'm thinking "ok this needs to sound professional because its going on this bookstores website, come on ana you can do this" and then its pretty much word vomit of all of the things i think about that book.
- Speaking of word vomit, whenever my friends talk to me about the book I'm reading or ask me for suggestions, I go on for so long. None of my friends really read, (except for Giordana HEY GURL + SHE ALSO KNOWS ABOUT BOOKTUBE SO YAS) so I go crazy when they talk about books. (Noah Shaw usually makes way into the conversation somehow)
- Speaking of NOAH SHAW (!!!!!!!), The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin are my favourite books of all time. I just love them so freakin much, and I cannot wait for The Retribution of Mara Dyer (which comes out November 4th, 2014: look out for a wishlist wednesday in october hehe). I just ordered hardback, SIGNED (!!!!) copies of the 2 books since I have them in paperback. Also, Noah Shaw is the bae and I love him so much (book boyfriend 5ever), he's pretty much ruined my life.
- I have so many unread books and I just keep buying more and more and more books (I HAVE A PROBLEM). I currently have 50 (holy s***) unread books and my mom has put me on a book buying ban until I read most of them. There should be book buying support groups.
- Cover changes & different heights in a series makes me sO ANGRY WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS????? ANGER. Honestly, why would you change the cover of the last book??? like, whaT?? THIS DOESNT MATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate it so much. So much.
- Book blogging is pretty fun, and I'm just getting into it now, but I don't really know what to post, so I've just been putting memes/features and reviews that I have to do. I haven't reviewed a book that I don't have to review (pretty much I haven't reviewed anything that I didn't receive as an ARC... does that make sense?). I really want to start reviewing books that I've read and really enjoyed, but I just don't know how to put all of my feelings about a book into words. I really have to come up with a reviewing style.
- I don't think I've ever commented on someones blog post.... this is bad. I mostly focus on youtube because thats my main platform and I do a lot of socializing there, but I should really start interacting in the blogging community.
- I love designing things, so I've been trying to design my own blogging icons and headers, menus, layout etc, but I have no idea how to actually make them and add CSS and that stuff. It sucks because I can't use the super awesome layouts I have designed, and tbh I'm to lazy to learn coding.
- Only a few people (my family, and a few friends) actually know about my booktube channel, book blog etc. It hasn't been discovered by anyone else at my school because no one reads, so they don't really have a way of finding it in their youtube suggestions because I doubt any of my classmates are searching videos about books. In a way, I want to be able to post my links on my personal twitter and make a page on facebook so that I don't have to make all these second accounts, but I'm kind hesitant to see peoples reactions. One kid in my grade had a youtube channel and people made fun of him, and even a bunch of people found out about my previous youtube channels and kind of teased me about it. It wasn't anything major because I wasn't posting anymore, but I'm not planning on stopping making videos and blog posts on The Book Mouse anytime soon, so I'm hesitant to see what they would think of my videos if I posted regularly even after everyone found out. When I first started out, I didn't want anyone at my school finding out, but now I don't really care. Ya sure, I'll still be a bit nervous when people talk to me about it, but thats just because some people in my grade can be really rude about it. Even if they tease me about it, I'm still going to post videos because it's something I love to do. Books and Youtube are my passion and I'm not going to let some stupid people stop me from doing what I love, so if people find out, I'll be like: "ya thats me, and ya I make videos about books. DEAL WITH IT." :)
so yes, those are my 10 blogging (and bookish) confessions! I'm sorry I went off on the main topic but I don't have many "blogging"confessions.
-Ana :)
